The representatives of the member
universities of the Association of the Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU)
taking part in the 5th ACRU Rector's Conference expressed their commitment to
fostering mutual cooperation and international activities as well as to promote
cultural and social contacts within the Association.
The participants expressed their
thanks to the organizers of the Conference for their work.
The participants of the Rectors'
Conference expressed their appreciation of the results achieved by the Building
Bridges project and indicated their common interest in promoting their cooperation
with universities and colleges from USA. They expressed their sincere thanks
to Mr. Robert N. Thomas, Director of the Building Bridges project.
The Association approved the applications
for membership of the Polytechnical University, Bucharest, Romania and the Uzhgorod
Institute of Information Science, Economics and Law, Uzhgorod, Ukraine.
The participants of the 5th ACRU
Rectors' Conference approved amendments to the Constitution.
The amendments to the Constitution are enclosed.
The participants approved the following
membership fees: associated membership - $250, individual membership - $60.
The participants of the Rectors'
Conference expressed their appreciation of the work of Dr. David Daniel in developing
the RAM project, approved the version of the RAM project
presented together with its proposed budget and entrusted Dr. David Daniel and
Dr. Tomas Sabol the submission of the project to prospective funders.
The participants approved the following
regulation for the organization of Rector's Conferences and other ACRU's events:
the organizing ACRU member university can deduct up to $500 from its annual
membership fee, provided that receipts for expenses connected with the event
organization of the event will be submitted.
The participants adopted a proposal
that ACRU apply to the Conference of European Rectors (CRE) in order that the
Association be included in the lexicon of networks in higher education. The
representatives nominated only one candidate for the position of the President
of the ACRU for the next term: Prof. Karol Florian, Rector of the Technical
University of Kosice. The organizer of the next Rector's Conference (either
Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania or the University of Mining and
Metallurgy, Krakow, Poland) will be designated after consultation with the American
representatives of the Building Bridges project.
The members ACRU were informed of the following changes in the National Coordinators:
Poland - Prof. Romana Sliwa from the Technical University, Rzeszow, Poland.
