Membership

Apart from the founding universities located in the Carpathian region, membership of the Association is open to any university, which applies for membership to the President of the Association, and is accepted by a two-thirds majority of the universities present at the Annual ACRU Conference.

The members of ACRU are universities and colleges of different types (technical, agricultural, classical, medical, etc.) thus covering all fields of education, research and knowledge.  Their mutual co-operation and participation in common projects result in cross-fertilisation beneficial to all involved parties and beneficial also to regional institutions and the region itself.

At present the Association has 24 higher education member institutions from Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Hungary and Serbia.  The student population of all member universities and colleges totals about 150,000.  In addition to that, ACRU has also associate/co-operating members from the USA and from the UK.
