Issued by participants of the Sixth Rectors' Conference
Krakow, Poland, June 5-7, 1997
The meeting was begun at 9:00 a.m. June 6, 1997.
The representatives of the member
universities of the Association of Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU)
that took part in the 6th ACRU Rectors Conference accepted the financial reports
as presented by the Secretary General. The proffessionalization of the managerial
structure was suggested.
The President of the Association
Prof.Karol Florian was re-elected by a unanimous vote, and the Secretary General
Dr.Tomas Sabol was re-affirmed by a vote of the General assembly.
The Executive Committee will prepare
alternative solutions for dealing with delinquent members which will be discussed
prior to the next meeting and solutions will be decide at the next Rectors
Conference.
The members are requested to send
updated information to the Secretary General on prepared and implemented activities
with partners in USA and other institutions which are relevant to the ACRU for
the update of the ACRU WWW home page and update other ACRU information materials.
The participants agreed to buy basic
equipment for an independent ACRU office to be established at the Technical
University of Kosice.
The contact persons of the Working
groups are required to prepare reports, distribute and discuss them by e-mail
and present the reports at the next Conference.
The Library working group has been
reorganized under the chairmanship of Ms.Klara Koltay. A workshop will be organized
with the support, if necessary, of ACRU funding.
Dr.Ed Speir reviewed a report on
the Building Bridges project. He ended with a positive
statement for continued cooperation.
The participants were charged by
the President to think of ideas and ways for concrete cooperation between ACRU
and Georgia.
President Florian also suggested
that participants should identify ways to open ACRU to French/German-speaking
countries.
The participants expressed thanks
to the organizers of the Conference led by Prof.A.Golas for their work.
The next meeting will be organized
by Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
